Goddess of Pleasure & Bliss: Volupta & Hedone

Volupta and Hedone is an empowerment founded by Maria João Sereno and published through Star of the Universe. It works with one goddess under two names. In Roman mythology Volupta, or Voluptas, was the beautiful daughter of Psyche and Cupid, and her name is Latin for pleasure or bliss, the same root that gives us the word voluptuous.

The manual notes that her first known mention is in Lucius Apuleius, the Roman author of The Golden Ass. In Greek mythology she is Hedone, goddess of pleasure, enjoyment and delight, daughter of Eros and Psyche, companion of the erotes on their journeys to bring joy and love into the world, and the opposite number of the Algea, the pains.

The empowerment brings that energy into your own practice with a small ritual kit: incense of rose, ylang ylang, musk, vanilla, cinnamon or coconut, and a red or rose coloured stone, a ruby if you have one, cleansed in sea salt and water for three hours before use.
